Car Insurance Premiums Hiked up by Uninsure Drivers

As drivers up and down the UK become more and more strapped for cash the cost of driving becomes more and more expensive. This means many drivers are now looking at ways to stay on the road but save money which unfortunately results in some cutting corners with insurance, tax, MOT's and repairs.

It is believed that around 1 million drivers are now driving on the roads without insurance as more and more drivers fail to renew their insurance policies in a bid to cut back the cost of driving. This move has inevitably been picked up by insurers who now take this into consideration when calculating insurance premiums. As always it is the honest drivers who will end up paying through the nose for these law breaking drivers with the average insurance policy set to increase by around £30 as a result! The cost of car insurance is also being hiked up by an ever increasing number of personal injury claims and increasing car repair costs. In particular it is young drivers who will feel the biggest impact of these insurance cost increases as they are often seen as the most vulnerable to accidents due to their inexperience on the road, although young drivers are in fact often more alert on the road.

Black box that could change car insurance forever

A revolutionary piece of technology has been introduced into the world of car insurance that could change the industry forever. A "black box" satellite tracker is now being used by some insurers to help track the timing and distance a motorists drives with a premium rate being calculated on these figures.

Car insurance advice from top insurers such as Co-operative Insurance suggests that the revolutionary new way of calculating insurance costs will help drivers save hundreds on their insurance, in particular young driver's car insurance. Young drivers in particular are often charged high insurance premiums as they are seen as the most high risk drivers, most likely to make a claim. However, the new "black box" tracks when and how much a driver uses their car meaning that young drivers who do not drive as much or even drive at night can make huge savings on their car insurance costs.

Huge savings can be made as insurers can now charge different rates for driving at peak or off-peak times of the day. The reasoning behind these being that drivers who only drive at off-peak times of the day are considered much less likely to be involved in a collision and therefore less likely to make an insurance claim, a fair assumption I feel! The policy can also be monitored on the web giving drivers the ability to monitor the cost of their car insurance online.

Parent drivers breaking the law

Young persons car insurance

Passing the driving test and gaining a full licence is an exciting time for many young people as they are given freedom to drive their motors wherever they like without an accompanying adult. This gives many young motorists an added sense of freedom and responsibility.

Once the driving text has been passed young drivers need a car that has a valid MOT and all the extras such as car insurance and tax. The cost of getting a young driver ready for the road can soon add up and it is often the youngsters' parents who take care of all the costs. With so much to pay for it is understandable that parents try to find as many ways as possible to reduce the cost of getting their child on the road. The most common way this is often done is by twisting the truth when setting up car insurance for the young person. A method known as "fronting" where by the parent claims that he or she is the main user of the car and puts the child down as a named driver can help save a lot of money but is actually illegal. Such an act is actually classed as fraud and can have serious consequences for the child and parent should the situation be found out. With most providers now providing car insurance online telling such a lie to save money is even more tempting than ever but this is not recommended.

Should drivers be caught "fronting" the insurance will be invalidated immediately and both parent and child could face an unpleasant trip to court!

Hiding Motor Convictions

With everyone across the globe feeling the pinch of the credit crunch people everywhere are finding more and more ways in which money can be saved. It has recently come to light that some drivers are trying to save on their car insurance by lying about previous motor related convictions, this is not recommended!

When applying for car insurance, particularly car insurance online, many drivers are choosing to exclude convictions that they picked up previously for speeding, dangerous driving and other motor related offences. Anyone who is attempting or considering this when applying for car insurance be warned, insurance providers are clamping down on this type of behaviour and are more likely than ever to ask for access to driving history records of drivers. So if a driver gets caught out after lying on their car insurance forms they can face huge embarrassment and even a criminal conviction.

There are many ways in which money can be saved, fraudulent car insurance applications is not one of them!
